Peirce’s Woods
Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania
Longwood calls it an “art-form garden” of plants native to the mid-Atlantic woodlands of the United States, a horticultural display garden that focuses on the dramatic beauty of native plants. With seven acres of azaleas and wildflowers under a mature canopy of native trees, it’s a modernist work of landscape art inspired by the voluptuous Brazilian gardens of Roberto Burle Marx.
Winner of a 2004 Design Merit Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects, and the 2002 Award of Distinction from the Association of Professional Landscape Designers.
